  2. Menggunakan Metro LINE 2. Walaupun Line 2 terlihat melintas sepanjang Pudong Airport hingga Xujing road (Hongqiao Airport 1 stop sebelum Xujing road) tapi gue tetap harus ganti jalur dan kereta di Guanglan road station kemudian melanjutkan sampai tujuan East Nanjing station biaya dari Pudong Airport hingga East Nanjing Station total sebesar 7 yuan aja. Murah yah.

  1. The Bund
  2. Sungai Huangpu
  3. Shanghai Oriental Pearl TV Tower
  4. Yuyuan Garden
  5. Nanjing road
  6. Shanghai Disney resort
  7. People’s Square

Lumayan lah, not too bad.

No need to be worry.

English version

Shanghai is China’s biggest city, and a global financial hub. Its heart is located in The Bund, Huangpu River is a trademark that divides Shanghai city into 2 parts.

The magnet for travelers who come to visit this city is a unique blend of western and eastern cultures. Pudong area is a newly started area since 1980s. Its ancient area is Puxi, the Bund itself is in the Puxi are.

Speaking about climate, Shanghai city has 4 seasons, during summer it will feel completely dry and the temperature can reach 43°C during the day, it feels exactly like being in front of a baked oven. Went to Shanghai in September, I feel quite comfortable, the wind was not too blowing nor too cold. During the day, the sun still feels bit and sweaty. I’ve never felt winter and spring in Shanghai. Hopefully I have the next chance to feel the extraordinary spring and winter in Shanghai. I use a lot of Metro for my transportation around Shanghai. Previously i have tried to ride the Sightseeing Bus, and Taxi, because it was paid by my office haha!

There are several ways to get the downtown from Pudong airport:

1.       Use the MAGLEV high speed train. The final stop at Longyang Road station, then you need change the LINE. There connected line to line 7, line 2 and line 16, so to use which line you need to continue your destination, make sure you know the destination station. It can be require transit for many times.

2.       Using Metro LINE 2. Although Line 2 passes along Pudong International Airport to Xujing Road (Hongqiao International Airport, 1 stop before Xujing road) but I still have to change the line and train in Guanglan Road Station and then continue to East Nanjing Station. The total cost from Pudong international airport to Nanjing East Station is only 7 yuan. It’s quite cheap.

3.       Take the shuttle bus from Pudong International Airport to downtown there are 13 lines to choose from. Relatively more expensive, its ticket prices around 16 – 68 Yuan per person, depending on the distance of destination.  Anyway for me, it will be more simple and saving to take Metro to ride.

To explore Shanghai city, you can use 3 days pass for 45 Yuan.

Do not forget, upon arrival at Pudong International Airport, ask for a map of Shanghai city in the tourist information section. it really helps us recognize the Metro line.

Shanghai’s point of interest are:

  1. The Bund
  2. Huangpu River
  3. Shanghai Oriental Pearl TV Tower
  4. Yuyuan Garden
  5. Nanjing Road
  6. Shanghai Disney resort
  7. Shanghai Film Studios Amusement Park
  8. People’s Square
  9. Shanghai World Financial Center
  10. Shanghai Museum
  11. Jade Buddha Temple
  12. Xintinadi
  13. Longhua Temple
  14. Madame Tussauds Shanghai
  15. Jing’an Temple
  16. Some ancient water towns

For daily conversations, Shanghai has a dialec called Shanghainese, which differs greatly from the standard mandarin. The Shanghai dialect or Shanghainese is only 70% intelligible for standard Mandarin speakers. Mandarin itself is still used, but Shanghai is the city of nomads, like Jakarta, then their language is more diverse. But not to worry, since Shanghai is such an international city a large proportion of the locals will have a strong command of English as well.

The issue of standard hygiene, in Shanghai is quite advanced, toilets generally tend to be cleaner than other small towns. Not 100% as clean as Taiwan or Japan. But for me the condition is acceptable without complaining. For the cost of food is more like in jakarta, more costive about 10-20% only. There are Lots of vegetarian food, which certainly makes Muslim friends easy to eat kosher. For 3 stars hotel base in Nanjing road area, it started from 600k rupiah or equal to 45 USD my last price checked in August 2017. For hostels closed to Nanjing Road Metro Metro Station, you can get around 120k rupiah or equal to 9 USD per night per bed. The condition was not too bad. Overall, Shanghai is a tourist friendly town. All instructions have been translated into English. No need to worry.
